This is an aspect of Sports business I tend to overlook. the reason for that is the guy, Mike Ilitch, who owns both my Detroit Tigers, and Detroit Red Wings also happens to own a huge restaurant chain. Therefore his own company runs the concession operations of those two stadiums.

This is a pretty simple equation. I took half of team’s 2008 salaries and divided them by number of first half wins to see what each team’s cost per win is.

We will start in the American League East

New York Yankees- 2,090,815.80 dollars per win

Boston Red Sox- 1,170, 088

Toronto Blue Jays- 1,040,360.64

Baltimore Orioles- 746,625

Tampa Bay Rays- 397,687.25

American League east Average- 1,089,115.34 dollars per win

 

American League Central

Detroit Tigers- 1,469,736.15 Dollars per Win
